Louisiana's Top Performing School District

About Our Schools
The Zachary Community Schools operate in a grade center concept. By the time of graduation a student will have attended all of the schools in the district. Our PreK program is housed at Zachary Early Learning Center. Students then progress to Northwestern Elementary School. This school serves students in kindergarten and first grade. Students then move on to Zachary Elementary for second and third grade. They then move to Copper Mill Elementary for fourth and fifth grade. Middle school students attend Northwestern Middle for grades six through eight. Zachary High School, the district's only high school houses, students grades nine through twelve. The District also has Port Hudson Career Academy which houses both the Options and Alternative school programs.

The District serves the needs of all students with top notch academics and a wide range of extracurricular offerings. Zachary High School has Honors, Advanced Placement and Gifted Curriculums. The schools have comprehensive athletic programs for boys and girls as well as extensive music and dramatic arts activities.

In August of 2004, The District unveiled a 5-Year Strategic Plan for the Future of Zachary Schools. The plan consists of goals in the areas of Accountability and Testing, Curriculum, Personnel, Community Partnerships, School Climate and Technology. A second Strategic Plan was crafted in 2010 including the areas of Human Resources, Curriculum & Accountability, Operations, Finance, Technology, School Climate and Parent & Community Involvement.

For the last 7 years, the Zachary Community School District has ranked number one in District Performance Scores in the state of Louisiana.
