The Louisiana Department of Education conducted the fall 2010 Accountability release Thursday afternoon. School and District Performance Scores provide the most widely accepted data on how students are meeting state accountability measures. Zachary Community School District is ranked the top performing school district in the state for the sixth year in a row. The district achieved a District Performance Score of 119.8 growing 3 points from last year’s score of 116.8. This is two-tenths of a point from the state’s 2014 goal of 120 for all schools and districts. “We are proud of our principals, faculty, staff, students and community who continue to make gains while performing at such a high achievement level,” Superintendent Warren Drake said. Other highlights of the Zachary scores include remarkable School Performance Score growth at both Zachary High and Copper Mill with 9.1 and 6.1 points of growth respectively. Zachary Elementary School becomes the district’s first 4 Star school, joining only 4 percent of schools in the state at meeting this status label. In addition, the district is proud of continued success in subgroup performance scores which provide indicators as to how districts are addressing the needs of students with disabilities, students of various income levels and ethnicities. Zachary ranked in the top two performing districts in six out of seven subgroups assessment indices. Drake attributes the district’s continued success to an atmosphere of discipline, rigorous curriculum, first-rate educators and phenomenal community support.
