Zachary School Board Minutes
December 14, 2000

Members Present: R.E. Amrhein, Jackie Harris, Jr., Theodore Hansen, Gene Bruner, Jessie Spears, Louise Horton, Daniel Davis, Terry Womack, P. Brent Kelley.
Absent: Jerry Boudreaux, Superintendent.
The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on December 14, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at the Zachary Community School Board building.
The invocation was given by Jackie Harris, Jr. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by Terry Womack.
Mr. Walton Barnes, 111, Board Attorney, discussed getting injuncture relief to expedite the trial date. Mr. Barnes suggested board needs to consider hiring experts with small school districts. Mr. Bruner asked what kind of time frame we have to consider on making a decision to file an injunction. Mr. Barnes needed more time to do more research.
Mr. Lonny Myles, Board Attorney, received an opinion form Louisiana Attorney General office stating that the board could call a special election for board members on April 7, 2001. Qualifying would be February 14-16, 2001 with $230.00 qualifying fee. Motion by Mr. Brent Kelley to call for April 7, 2001 election, seconded by Mr. Daniel Davis. Approved by vote of 7 yeas and 2 no.
Voting yes: Mr. Amrhein, Mr. Harris, Mr. Spears, Mrs. Horton, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Womack, Mr. Kelley
Voting no: Mr. Hansen and Mr. Bruner.
Mayor John Womack of the City of Zachary felt it would be difficult to meet all deadlines for the tax election. A motion by Mr. Spears seconded by Mr. Hansen to table tax election. Passes, 9 yeas and 0 no
Mr. Amrhein stated the papers for the exempt status were being filed and there was a $150.00 application fee.
Next board meeting is December 21, 2000.
Motion by Mr. Kelley seconded by Mrs. Horton to adjourn. 9 yeas and 0 no.
