Zachary School Board Minutes

February 8, 2001

7:00 p.m.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Amrhein, Mr. Hansen, Mrs. Horton, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Womack, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Harris, Mr. Bruner, Mr. Spears and Mr. Boudreaux.

 

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on February 8, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Zachary Community School Board Office.

 

The invocation was given by Mr. Hansen followed by the pledge of allegiance led by Mr. Burner. Roll Call was taken. 9 Yeas, 0 Nays, 0 Absent.

 

A motion was made by Mr. Kelley to approve the agenda, seconded by Mr. Hansen. VOTE: 9 Yeas, 0 Nays, 0 Absent.

A motion was made by Mrs. Womack to approve the minutes of the February 1, 2001 meeting as written, seconded by Mrs. Horton. VOTE: 9 Yeas, 0 Nays, 0 Absent.

 

Committee Reports:

Litigation Committee: No Meeting.

 

Election Committee: Had a phone meeting, all 9 districts have interested candidates.

 

Budget Committee: No Meeting. Will meet next week with Mr. Ponder Jones and Mr. Wascom of the La. School Board Association. They have the computer program.

 

Policy Committee: No Meeting. Will meet next week.

 

Mr. Boudreaux discussed handing out fliers this weekend at Winn-Dixie and Wal-Mart from 8:30 until 4:30. Mrs. Linda Coleman spoke stating they needed 6 more people.

 

Mr. Boudreaux discussed a mail out which will go out the first of March regarding the tax election and a reminder to vote for school board members.

 

Mr. Boudreaux gave the board members a copy of HB-2100 stating Mr. Paul Jones would publish it as required by law.

Mr. Lonny Myles reported that the meeting with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System on February 6, 2001 went well and it looks like we can meet all deadlines on the Amended Scheduling Order. We do have an order for the 2002 trail date.

 

Mr. John Taylor of the Friends of the Zachary Community Schools spoke asking for some financial information so that when he asks for donations that he will be able to tell people where their money will be spent. They would also be interested in putting             before the next meeting and suggested that they could pick it up at his office or here at the school board office.

There was a motion by Mr. Bruner to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Kelley. 9 Yeas, 0 Nays, 0 absent.
