Zachary School Board Minutes

A special meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Zachary Community School Board Office.
Roll:
Members Present: Mr. Amrhein, Mr. Bruner, Mr. Davis, Mr. Kelley, Mrs. Womack, Mrs. Horton and Dr. Brady- Absent: Mr. Hansen, Mr. Harris and Mr. Spears.
The invocation was given by Mr. Kelley followed by the pledge of allegiance led by Mr. Davis. A motion was made by Mr. Kelley and seconded by Mr. Bruner to approve the agenda. Vote: 6 Yeas, 0 Nays, 3 absent.
Mr. Myles presented and explained the resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the election held in the Zachary Community Educational Facilities Improvement District of the parish of,East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on April 7, 2001 with respect to approval of sales and use tax and special property tax. The sales tax proposition passed by a margin of 2,156 votes for and 486 votes against.
After a. discussion of the resolution, a motion was made by Mr. Bruner and seconded by Mr. Kelley to adopt the resolution.
Vote: 6 Yeas, 0 Nays, 3 absent.
The meeting of the Zachary Community School Board adjourned followed by a meeting of the Zachary Community System for the purpose of promulgating the election results.
A motion was made by Mr. Kelley and seconded by Mrs. Womack to pass the resolution to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election held in the Zachary Community School System, parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana, held on Saturday, April 7,2001 to authorize the levy of a sale and use tax and special property tax therein_ Vote: 6 Yeas, 0 Nays, 3 absent.
A motion was made by Mr. Kelley and seconded by Mr. Bruner that we accept the results of the April 7, 2001 election and that the ad valorem, sales and use tax propositions were passed by a majority voters in the Zachary Community School District. Votes for the ad valorem were 2,089, Against: 554. For sales tax 2,156, Against 486. Vote: 6 Yeas, 0 Nays, 3 absent.
