Zachary School Board Minutes

December 27, 2001

 

Members Present: Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Kimmell, Dr. Leggett, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Womack and Dr. Brady.

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on December 27, 2001 at the Zachary Community School Board Office.

 

The Invocation was given by Dr. Leggett. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Womack

 

Roll:

6 Present, 3 Absent ( Mr. Davis, Mr. Snowden & Mrs. Young)

 

Mrs. Kimmell made the motion to approve the minutes of December 13, 2001 and Mrs. Womack seconded it.

VOTE: 6 YEAS 0 NAYS ( 3 Absent)

 

Attorney Lonny Myles gave an update report on litigation. He told the board that we were waiting on mediations with Judge Brady and that they should start in the middle of January.

 

Dr. Leggett thanked Attorney Lonny Myles for all of the work that he has done and told Lonny that he has done a great service for the community. He also thanked Attorney Sheri Morris and Wade Shows.

 

Dr. Brady gave his Superintendent Report. He handed out the schedule of board meetings for 2002 and asked the board to think about changing the time of the meetings from 7 PM to 6 PM through Easter. Dr. Brady said that Attorney Sheri Morris was going to file the necessary papers tomorrow that the Justice Department has given her and that the Justice Department has requested a status conference with Judge Brady.

 

Dr. Leggett gave the board some policy changes updates. Mrs. Coleman made the motion to accept these policy changes and Mrs. Horton seconded it.

Dr. Leggett handed out the new budget for 2002 to the board members. Mrs. Womack made the motion to adopt this new budget and Mr. Moore seconded it.

The Champions gave their reports. Each committee has been busy gathering information and they all have meetings set in January. Dr. Leggett handed out a Progress Report Outline and wanted each committee to have it filled out by February 15, 2002. He also told the board that they needed to have a all day workshop on a Saturday in January. The board decided on January 12 for the workshop and would talk about it more at the next board meeting.
