Members Present: Mrs. Coleman, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Kimmell, Dr. Leggett, Mr. Moore, Mr. Snowden, Mrs. Womack, Mrs. Young and Mr. Drake, Superintendent.

Also Present Lonny Myles, Board Attorney, Stacy Naquin, Attorney,

Connie Aslin, Board Secretary, Gordon Robertson, Business Manager and Donald Thomas, Personnel Director.

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on January 9, 2003 at the Zachary School Board Office.

The Meeting was called to order by Dr. Leggett. The Invocation was given by Drew Davis and the Pledge of Allegiance by Zachary and Logan Leggett.

Roll was taken: 9 Present 0 Absent

Danny Davis presented Dr. Leggett with a gift certificate and thanked him for his service as President. Dr. Leggett thanked everyone and said that he would continue to work with the Zachary Community School Board.

State Representative Kip Holden swore in the board members. Board members for the new four year terns are: Terry Womack, Louise Horton, Chip Moore, Danny Davis, Mark Johnson, Carl Snowden, Elizabeth Kimmell, Lynda Coleman and Gaynell Young. Mark Johnson is taking Hal Leggett's place. Mr. Holden thanked everyone for inviting him and said that it was an honor to be at the Zachary Community School Board Office.

Mrs. Coleman made the motion to elect Chip Moore as President of the Zachary Community School Board and Mrs. Horton seconded the motion.

ROLL CALL VOTE: 9 YEAS Mrs. Young, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Coleman, Mr. Snowden, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Womack and Mr. Moore 0 NAYS

Mrs. Womack made the motion to elect Gaynell Young as Vice President of the Zachary Community School Board and Mrs. Coleman seconded the motion.

ROLL CALL VOTE: 9 YEAS Mrs. Young, Mr-Johnson, Mrs. Coleman, Mr. Snowden, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Horton, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Womack and Mr. Moore, 0 NAYS

Mrs. Womack made the motion to approve the Minutes of December 19, 2002 and Mrs. Young seconded it. VOTE: 9 YEAS 0 NAYS

Mr. Drake announced that he was very happy to recommend to the board the four Principals who will lead the Zachary Community Schools. They will begin work officially on June 1, 2003. They are Dewey Davis, Zachary Elementary, Vera Dunbar, Northwestern Elementary, Debra Brian, Northwestern Middle and Kevin Lemoine, Zachary High School.

Danny Davis made the motion to appoint the following individuals as principals of the Zachary Community Schools at an annual salary as indicated:

Zachary Elementary Mr. Dewey Davis $50,772.00

Northwestern Elementary Ms. Vera Dunbar $58,505.00

Northwestern Middle Ms. Debra Brian $61,620.00

Zachary High School Mr. Kevin Lemoine $64,486.00

Appointment is to be effective June 1, 2003 and will be for a two year period. Mr. Mark Johnson seconded the motion

Ms. Dunbar, Ms. Brian, Mr. Davis and Mr. Lemoine thanked the school board members and Mr. Drake. They all are looking forward to being principals at the Zachary Schools and said that the schools would be the best in the United States.

The board wanted on the January 23, 2003 Agenda the following: Superintendent Report and Policies.

Mrs. Coleman made the motion to adjourn and Mr. Davis seconded it. VOTE: 9 YEAS 0 NAYS
