Zachary School Board Minutes

October 13, 2005

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on  October 13, 2005 at 4700 Main Street.

 

The invocation was given by Mrs. Louise Horton.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jonathan Benda.

 

ROLL:  Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Young, Mr. Swilley, Mr. Davis, Mr. Benda, Mrs. Horton, and Mr. Dayton.     2 ABSENT   (Mrs. Kimmell & Mr. Snowden)

 

MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 22, 2005

Mrs. Young moved to approve the minutes for September 22, 2005 and Mr. Davis seconded the motion.

VOTE:  7 YEAS   0 NAYS    2 ABSENT     

 

PUBLIC COMMENT – There was none.

 

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Drake reported that LEAP Remediation will start on Monday, October 17, at Zachary Elementary and Northwestern Middle School.  We have approximately 193 displaced students attending our schools.  Election day will be Saturday, October 15 for Board Member, District 8.

The Homecoming Alumni Pep Rally will be Thursday, October 27 at 6:00PM and Homecoming game will be Friday, October 28.

 

PERSONNEL MATTERS

Mr. Benda moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mrs. Horton seconded the motion.

VOTE:   7 YEAS   0 NAYS   2 ABSENT      (See Attached List)

 

POLICIES

Mr. Swilley moved to approve the following policies, School Superintendent, File: CB, Employment of Superintendent, File:CBD, and Child Nutrition Program Manager, File:EE , and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

VOTE:  7 YEAS   0 NAYS   2 ABSENT

 

UPDATE ON PURCHASE AGREEMENT ON 964 PROPERTY

Mr. Dayton moved to table Purchase Agreement on 964 Property and Mr. Benda seconded the motion.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mr. Swilley reported that the Building Committee met on October 11, 2005 and rejected the bids for the middle school construction.  The committee will seek new bids in the coming months for the middle school and high school.
