Zachary Community School Board Minutes

February 8, 2007   7:00pm

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on February 8, 2007 at 4700 Main Street, Zachary, La. 

The invocation was led by Jannie Rogers.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Hubie Owen.

ROLL: Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Young, Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Snowden, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Benda, and Mr. Dayton.

MINUTES FOR JANUARY 24, 2007

Mr. Owen moved to approve the minutes for the meeting held on January 24, 2007 and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

VOTE: 9 YEAS   0 NAY   0 ABSENT

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Drake reported that Brandon Barrow signed up with LSU Eunice in baseball and Brandon Efferson signed with Southeastern.  Kevin Persick signed with Nichols State in football and baseball and Andy Walters signed with The Air Force Academy in football.  Bids will be opened on February 15 for the Athletic Training Facility and Stadium Renovations.  Science Night will be held at Copper Mill Elementary Thursday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m.  The Zachary High School Drama Team will perform ”r;lend Me A Tenor” at 7:00 p.m. February 8 & 9.  The Mardi Gras Holiday for all employees will be February 19^th & 20^th followed by a Staff Development Day on February 21.

Mr. Dayton moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

POLICIES

Mr. Snowden moved to approve the Professional Leave Policy File:GBRH and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

VOTE:  9 YEAS   0 NAYS   0 ABSENT

Mr. Benda moved to approve Public Participation in School Board Meetings File:BCBI and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

Board Retreat – Saturday, Feb. 10 from 8 to 11am @ St. Patrick’s Church.
