ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

May 9, 2007   7:00PM

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on May 9, 2007 at 4700 Main Street, Zachary, La. 

The invocation was led by Carl Snowden.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Scott Swilley.

ROLL:  Mrs. Kimmell, Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Snowden, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Benda and Mr. Dayton.  Absent: Mrs. Young

MINUTES FOR APRIL 26, 2007

Mr. Swilley moved to approve the minutes for April 26, 2007and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

VOTE:  8 YEAS    0 NAYS   1 ABSENT  

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Drake reported that Northwestern Elementary School, first grade class will present a play called ”A Train Ride Across America” on May 15 & 16.  Zachary High School graduation will be on May 18 at Bethany World Center at 6:30p.m.  The ZHS Baseball Team will play in the 4A State Tournament in Monroe on May 10, at 4:00pm

RECOGNITIONS:

The board presented certificates to Kyla D’ Arensbourg, 2^nd grade student at Zachary Elementary for the 2007 American Spirit Poster Contest  and Zachary Hyde, 5^th grade student from Copper Mill, 1^st place winner of the Tar Wars poster contest.

The board presented plaques to the 2006-2007 Outstanding School Support Employees.

 The board presented certificates for recognition of service and support to the Zachary Community School District.

Mr. Owen moved to approve the First Student, Inc. Transportation Procedures and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.     VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

MEAL PRICE CHANGES

Mr. Owen moved to approve meal price changes for the 2007-2008 school year and Mrs. Rogers seconded the motion.        (See Attached Sheet)          VOTE:  8 YEAS    0 NAYS   1 ABSENT
