The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on May 24, 2007 at 4700 Main Street, Zachary, La.
In invocation was led by Mrs. Young.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Rogers.

MINUTES FOR MAY 9, 2007
Mrs. Young moved to approve the minutes for May 9, 2007 and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Drake reported that Gwendolyn Longmire has received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Patrick Jenkins was honored today at Zachary Elementary as he has been called to active duty in Iran. Zachary Elementary School was awarded $85,588 from the LA Quality education Support Fund for a competitive project entitled: ”r;Journey into Math”. Forty three employees received perfect attendance awards this school year. The last day for students is today and last day for teachers will be tomorrow. Summer school will begin this summer at all the elementary schools. LRCE obtained permission to film some of our students for an upcoming promotional spot. Twelve month employees will begin their Monday through Thursday summer schedule on June 4th and it will end on July 23, 2007.
RECOGNITIONS:
The board presented certificates to the ZHS Softball Team. The team completed at state level.
The board presented certificates to the ZHS Baseball Team. The team won the 4A State title.
The board presented certificates to the 8th grade Holocaust Writing Contest Winners, Danielle Greer and Conner Fuselier.
The board presented certificates to 5th grader, Caroline Claassen , who won the Exxon Mobile/WAFB Science Star Essay Contest.
The board presented a certificate to Lori Otts who won the 2007 American Chemical Society Baton Rouge Teacher of the Year.
The board presented Major Black a certificate who was selected Citizenship Educator of the year by local VFW Post 4224 & Ladies Auxiliary.
RESULTS OF 2007 TESTING – LEAP, GEE & iLEAP
Mrs. Clayton reported the 2007 results of the LEAP, GEE & iLEAP. She told the board that for a second year in a row, the Zachary Community School District received a 108.2 the highest DPS score in the state. The District Performance Score is a combination of individual student scores on the LEAP tests, the iLEAP tests and the Graduation Exit Exams (GEE), as well as attendance and dropout rates.
ZACHARY ELEMENTARY ACTING PRINCIPAL & ACTING ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Mr. Dayton moved to approve Jennifer Marangos as Acting Principal and Trudy Johnson as Acting Assistant Principal for Zachary Elementary and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

PERSONNEL MATTERS
Mr. Benda moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.
