The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on August 23, 2007 at 4700 Main Street, Zachary, La.
The invocation was led by Mr. Dayton.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Benda
ROLL: Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Snowden, Mr Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Benda and Mr. Dayton. Absent: Mrs. Kimmell & Mrs. Young
MINUTES FOR AUGUST 9, 2007
Mrs. Samuel moved to approve the minutes for August 9, 2007 and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Drake reported that all schools had a great start this year. The average ACT scores of 20.8 are the highest in the history of ZHS and third in the state. The Football Jamboree will be held August 24, 2007 at ZHS at 7:00 p.m.
RECOGNITION OF ZHS STUDENTS
The board members presented certificates to Blake Pace for being selected as Boys State Governor 2007 and ZHS Band Members for outstanding performance at Carnegie Hall.
RECOGNITION OF TEACHERS OF THE YEAR
Mr. Drake recognized the Teachers of the Year and presented the teachers with a certificate.
Northwestern Elementary – Tonja Granville
Zachary Elementary – Megan Noel
Copper Mill Elementary – Melinda Trawick
Northwestern Middle – Carla Murray
Zachary High – Megan Buccere
2008 REGIONAL TEACHER OF YEAR
The Board presented Carla Murray with a plaque for being 2008 Regional Teacher of the Year.
PERSONNEL MATTERS
Mrs. Samuel moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mrs. Rogers seconded the motion.
VOTE: 7 YEAS 0 NAYS 2 ABSENT (See Attached Sheet)
SURPLUS PROPERTY
Mr. Owen moved to approve surplus property which includes all furniture in the old building at Northwestern Middle School and Zachary High School and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

403B PROGRAM
Mr. Benda moved to approve the 403B Program to include Pacific Life as a carrier and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.
VOTE: 7 YEAS 0 NAYS 2 ABSENT
