ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

SEPTEMBER 13, 2007    7:00PM

 

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on September 13, 2007 at 4700 Main Street, Zachary, La. 

The invocation was led by Mrs. Samuel.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mike Jones.

 

ROLL: Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Young, Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Benda and Mr. Dayton.        Absent – Mr. Snowden

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

Capt. Ronald Sayer, Sgt. Dozer and Sgt. Martin from the Louisiana Army National Guard presented Mr. Drake with the Louisiana Distinguished Civilian Medal for exceptional meritorious service as a patriotic employer.  Capt. Patrick Jenkins nominated Mr. Drake for this award and was available by phone to add his congratulations.

 

MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 13, 2007

Mr. Owen moved to approve the minutes for August 23, 2007 and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

 

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Drake reported that Zachary Elementary School student, Logan Gilbow, appeared on the cover of Parents Magazine this month.  ZCSB nurses, Renee Moore, Candace Biggs and Sarah Felder were also featured in a Parent Magazine article on School Health Screenings.  The football team is ranked third in the state and will play Pineville Friday night.  All students at Zachary Elementary School participated in the Freedom Walk on September 11, 2007 to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 events in New York City.

 

SCHOOL PERFORMANCE SCORES

Mrs. Clayton presented a power point to update the board on the School Performance Scores released this week.  Mrs. Clayton told the board that we still have three 3 star schools and all 5 schools received performance scores above 100.

 

RECOGNITION OF MIKE JONES  - NATIONAL BETA PRESIDENT 2007-2008

The board presented Mike Jones with a certificate to honor him for his election as the 2007-2008 National Beta President.

 

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT COPPER MILL ELEMENTARY

Mrs. Young moved to approve Keisha Thomas to the position of Assistant Principal at Copper Mill Elementary and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

 

PERSONNEL MATTERS

Mr. Benda moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

 

ARCHITECT FOR BRONCO STADIUM, BATHROOMS & CONCESSION

Mr. Swilley moved to approve David Mouget as the architect for the Bronco Stadium additions of bathrooms and concession areas and Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT
