ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 5:30PM
The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on September 11, 2008 at 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, La.
The invocation was led by Mrs. Samuel.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Owen.
ROLL: Mr. Snowden, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Benda and Mr. Dayton. ABSENT: Mrs. Young and Mr. Swilley
PUBLIC COMMENT – There was none.
MINUTES FOR AUGUST 28, 2008
Mr. Dayton moved to approve the Minutes for August 28, 2008 and Mrs. Rogers seconded the motion. VOTE: 7 YEAS 0 NAYS 2 ABSENT
SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Drake reported that every thing is going well since the hurricane.
Mr. Drake wanted to thank everyone that helped with the clean up of Hurricane Gustav.
Also we lost instructional time in all schools from Tuesday, September 2, 2008 through Friday, September 5, 2008. The board approved 2008-2009 school calendar which included a minimum of 65,430 minutes. The four days missed was equivalent to a maximum of 1,520 minutes. We have modified our 2008-2009 planned calendar to convert the November 3, 2008 staff development day to an instructional day as allowed by Bulletin 741, Chapter 3 Section 333. We have submitted our planned and revised calendars through the Louisiana Department of Education automated school calendar file system.
SURPLUS PROPERTY
Mr. Owen moved to approve the house on 40th Street, Zachary, La., as Surplus Property for $7500.00. The house was purchase by Ronald W. and Susan Shelton and Mr. Benda seconded the motion.
VOTE: 7 YEAS 0 NAYS 2 ABSENT
Mrs. Samuel moved to declare 7 buses as Surplus Property and Mr. Kelley seconded the motion. VOTE: 7 YEAS 0 NAYS 2 ABSENT (See Attached List)
