ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

JULY 9, 2009

The regular meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on July 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, La.

The invocation was led by Mrs. Rogers.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Swilley.

ROLL:  Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, and Mr. Benda ABSENT:  Mrs. Young, Mr. Snowden, Mr. Kelley and Mr. Dayton

PUBLIC COMMENT - There was none.

MINUTES FOR JUNE 25, 2009

Mr. Owen moved to approve the Minutes for June 25, 2009 and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

VOTE:  5 YEAS   0 NAYS   4 ABSENT

STUDENT RECOGNITION:

Laura Clesi and Laura Mondello - LASTEM Scholarship to LSU

The board presented them with certificates.

David Dayton, Board Member arrived at 7:10 p.m.

PORT HUDSON CAREER ACADEMY PRESENTATION

Patrick Jenkins, Principal of Port Hudson Career Academy, presented a power point of the facilities.

PESONNEL MATTERS

Mr. Benda moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

VOTE:  6 YEAS   0 NAYS   3 ABSENT                                (See Attachment)

EARLY LEARNING CENTER BIDS

Mr. Owen moved to approve the lowest bid for the Early Learning Center Bid with Block Construction LLC for $5,723,100 and Mr. Dayton seconded the motion. (SeeAttachment)

VOTE:  6 YEAS   0 NAYS   3 ABSENT

COMMITTEE MEETINGS - None at this time

There will be a Work Session and Board Meeting before Board Retreat on 7-23-09

Work Session at 5:00 p.m., Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m., Board Retreat at 6:00 p.m.
