ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
October 28, 2010
The regular board meeting of the Zachary Community School Board was held on October 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, La.
The invocation was led by Mrs. Samuel.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Benda.
ROLL CALL: Mr. Owen, Mrs. Young Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Samuel, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Benda and Mr. Dayton.
ABSENT: Mr. Snowden
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 BOARD MEETING
Mrs. Young moved to approve the minutes from September 30, 2010 Special Board Meeting and Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.
There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDNET REPORT
Mr. Drake reported that Ladarrius Vessell, running back for Zachary High School was nominated for and won the WBRZ Fan’s Choice for the week of September 29, 2010. On October 29, 2010, Zachary will play Walker at 7:00 p.m. On October 30, 2010 the Cross Country will be at the West Feliciana Sports Park and on October 31, 2010 the Swim Team will be at Crawfish Aquatics. Congratulations to Maegan Laborde and Bianca Deliberto of Zachary Elementary, for being awarded the Louisiana Science Teachers Association Travel Grants. Raising Canes will have their Raising Grades with Raising Canes Luncheon on October 29, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.
RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS
The board recognized Young Authors and Newspapers in Education Winners. The students each received a certificate. (See Attached List)
RECOGNITION OF BOARD MEMBERS: HUBIE OWEN, SHARON SAMUEL AND GAYNELL YOUNG
SCHOOL BOARD CONFERENCE HOURS ON SEPTEMBER 23 & 24, 2010
Mr. Drake recognized Hubie Owen, Sharon Samuel and Gaynell Young for attending the 14th Annual Louisiana Tech University School Law Institute School Board Law Conference on September 23 -24, 2010. They each earned 9.5 Education Units.
THIRD GRADE TRIP TO HOUSTON
Tammy Wood presented a power point presentation on the Third Grade trip to Houston
PERSONNEL MATTERS
Mr. Swilley moved to approve Personnel Matters and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

FILE:DJD EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT POLICY
Mrs. Samuel moved to approve File: DJD Expense Reimbursement Policy and Mr. Kelley seconded the motion.
There was no public comment.

ROLLINS ROAD - ADA STREET PROPERTY
Mr. Swilley moved to approve up to $125,000.00 plus fees to purchase Lots 1 Square A, Lot 2 Square D and Lot 1 Square B on Rollins Road and Ada Street in the Northside Subdivision in Zachary, La. and Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.
