ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

NOVEMBER 10, 2011

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on November 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The invocation was led by Jannie Rogers.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Carl Kelley.

ROLL CALL:  Mrs. Samuel, Mrs. Young, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Rogers, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Dykes and Mr. Dayton.    1 Absent (Mr. Swilley)

MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 27, 2011

Mr. Mackie moved to approve the minutes from the October 27, 2011 meeting.  Mr. Dykes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:   8 YEAS   0 NAYS    1 ABSENT

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Drake reported that Jameson Fisher and Tanner Hebert both received baseball scholarships.  Jameson Fisher will be attending Southeastern University in Hammond and Tanner Hebert will be attending The University of Louisiana at Monroe.  Zachary High School football team will play Acadian High School in Lafayette.  Northwestern Middle school sixth grade softball team won District Championship.  The East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council recognized the Zachary Community School District for being the # 1 School District in the State.  Gaynell Young, our school board member, has been appointed by the Metro Council of East Baton Rouge Parish for a 4 year term on the Board of Commissioners at Lane Regional Medical Center.  One student from every grade level was honored for their achievement for the first six weeks from Raising Canes.  Schools will be closed November 21 - 25, 2011 for Thanksgiving holidays.  The Zachary Mayor and guest will be meeting with Marucci on November 11, 2011 at 12:00 p.m., at the school board office.

PERSONNEL MATTERS

Mrs. Young moved to approve Personnel Matters.  Mr. Kelley seconded the motion.

2010-2011 ANNUAL AUDIT 

Mike Schexnayder of Postlethwaite & Netterville, Inc. went over the 2010-2011 Annual Audit.

He told the board that the Zachary Community School Board was in excellent financial and business shape. 

Mr. Mackie moved to approve the 2010-2011 Annual Audit Report.  Mr. Dykes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.
