ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

OCTOBER 7, 2014

 

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on October 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

 

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Samuel.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Swilley

 

ROLL CALL:  Mr. Dayton, Mr. Swilley, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Mackie,  Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, and Mrs. Kimmell        1 ABSENT (Mrs. Avants)

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the September 16, 2014 Work Session Minutes and September 16, 2014 Board Meeting Minutes.  Mrs. Young seconded the motion.

 

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

 

Mr. Devillier reported that Friday, October 10, 2014 will be early dismissal for the students.  The Zachary High School Homecoming Pep Rally will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Bronco Stadium.  The parade will start at 3:00 p.m. and the pre-game activities will start at 6:30 p.m.  Zachary will play Plaquemine at 7:00 p.m.  On Saturday, October 11, 2014 will be the Homecoming Dance. On Monday, October 13, 2014 will be Fall Break.  All schools and main office will be closed.  On Tuesday, October 14, 2014 will be Parent/Teacher Conference Day & Teacher In-Service Day.  On Wednesday, October 15, 2014 the Zachary Men's Club Candidate Forum will be at 6:00 p.m.  On Thursday, October 16, 2014 the Zachary Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m.  "Meet the Candidates", sponsored by the Zachary Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, October21, 2014, at the Fellowship Church at 6:30 p.m.  On Friday, November 7, 2014 the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 7:00 a.m.

 

SWEARING IN JROTC CADET BATTALION STAFF

 

Mr. Devillier swore in the following JROTC Cadet Battalion Staff:  Stephanie Harper; Joseph Florida; Molly Mahan; Arron Dick; Charles Sampson; Lee Anna Humphrey and Brandon Munn.

 

ZACHARY HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL CONTRACT

 

Mr. Swilley moved to approve the Zachary High School Assistant Principal contract.  Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.                                                            (See Attached)

PUPIL PROGRESSION PLAN

 

Mrs. Young moved to approve the Pupil Progression Plan.   Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.  (See Attached)

UNINSURED-UNDERINSURED MOTORIST BODILY INJURY RESOLUTION

 

Mr. Owen moved to approve the Uninsured - Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Resolution.  Mr. Swilley seconded the motion.

CONSTRUCTION FUND INVESTMENT ACCOUNT

 

Mr. Owen moved to approve the Construction Fund Investment Account.  Mrs. Samuel seconded the motion.

REVISED 2014 BOARD COMMITTEES

 

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the Revised 2014 Board Committees, adding Mrs. Vessel to the committees that Jannie Rogers was on and adding Mrs. Samuel to the Facilities Committee.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.                                                                 (See Attached)

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Facilities Committee met on October 7, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., but the meeting was cancel.  They did not have a quorum.
