ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

OCTOBER 20, 2015

 

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on October 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the school board office at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

 

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Watkins.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Devillier.

 

ROLL CALL:  Mr. Owen, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Fuselier, Mr. Hughes,  Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Watkins, and Mr. Dayton.     1 Absent (Mrs. Grice)

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for the following meetings: 09-15-2015 Work Session, 09-15-2015 Board Meeting, 09-22-2015 Finance Strategic Planning Committee & Human Resources Strategic Planning Committee, and 10-06-2015 Workshop.  Mrs. Young seconded the motion.

 

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

 

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for coming. He announced that on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., we will have our Zachary High School tour for the public He announced that the Broncos will play at Live Oak on October 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Also, on Friday the Art Crawl will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Main Street, in Zachary.  The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held on Friday, November 6 at 7:30 a.m.   Pack the Pantry Food Drive will be November 9 – 13, 2015.

 

RECOGNTION OF REGIONAL VETERANS MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION

 

The board presented the Regional Veterans Memorial Association with a check for $500.00 out of the board members’ courtesy account.  Those attending to accept the donation were Greg McDougall, John Taylor and Frank Ragsdale.

 

RECOGNITION OF MARGRET ATKINSON – 2015 PATRICIA BEHRING – LOUISIANA TEACHER OF THE YEAR

 

The board recognized Margret Atkinson for being chosen as the 2015 Patricia Behring, Louisiana Teacher of the Year.  The board presented Margret with a certificate.

 

RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL HISTORY DAY STATE WINNERS

 

The board recognized the National History Day State Winners:  Alexandra Barfield, John Borg, Hayden Duplantier, Mikey Varnado, Caleb Johnson and David Robins.

 

The board presented the students with certificates.

 

RECOGNITION OF MEGAN BUCCERE – ANNE CONNELLY FINE ART AWARD RECIPIENT           

 

The board recognized Megan Buccere as the recipient of the Anne Connelly Fine Art Award.

 

The board presented Megan with a certificate.

 

RECOGNITION OF DAVIS RAYBORN – GBRIA CRAFT EDUCATION CHAMPION

 

The board recognized Davis Rayborn for being chosen as the GBRIA Craft Education Champion.

 

The board presented Mr. Rayborn with a certificate.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACT ZHS ZCTC ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

 

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the Administrative Contract for the ZHS ZCTC Assistant Principal.  The contract starts on October 21, 2015 – October 21, 2017.  Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

2015-2020 STRATEGIC PLAN

 

Mrs. Young moved to approve the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan.  Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.  (See Attached)

ERISA WRAP PLAN DOCUMENT

 

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the ERISA Wrap Plan Document. The Plan Year is from September 1, 2015 – August 31, 2016.   Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.        (See Attached)

UNINSURED-UNDER INSURED MOTORIST BODILY INJURY RESOLUTION

 

Mr. Dayton moved to approve the Uninsured-Under Insured Motorist Bodily Injury Resolution.

 

The resolution starts on October 1, 2015 and ends on October 1, 2016.

 

Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.    (See Attached)
