ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

April 19, 2016

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on April 19, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Hughes.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Fuselier.

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Fuselier, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, and Mrs. Watkins.           2 ABSENT:  Mr. Dayton and Mrs. Young

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Owen moved to approve the minutes for March 15, 2016 Work Session and Board Meeting Minutes and March 22, 2016 Operations Committee Meeting Minutes.  Mrs. Fuselier seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier reported that ZHS Award Night will be on May 10, 2016 at, 6:30 p.m., at ZHS Gymnasium.  ZHS Graduation will be on May 13, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., at Bethany World Prayer Center. Mr. Devillier announced community events.  (See Attached)

RECOGNITION OF LAUREN LANE – ZHS STUDENT FILMING AND EDITING VIDEO FOR THE CITY OF ZACHARY

The board presented a certificate to ZHS Student, Lauren Lane, for her work on a video for the City of Zachary. 

RECOGNITION OF ZHS MOCK TRIAL TEAM 2016 STATE CHAMPIONS

The board presented certificates to the ZHS Mock Trial Team 2016 State Champions:  John Carl Begley, Elise Goff, Aanan Henderson, Nash Joyner, Jake Robertson, Reagan Staggs, and Shelby Waddell.  The board also recognized the Coaches, Chris Staggs, Adrianne Hodgkins and the Attorney Coach Craig Kaster.

RECOGNITION OF ZHS DISTRICT RALLY – 2016 DISTRICT WINNERS

The board presented certificates to the ZHS District Rally – 2016 District Winners.

Art - Emery Stovall, Claytin Goss, Maya Blitch, Autumn Davis

World History – Ashley Coco

English IV – Elise Goff

Civics – Conner Maloy

Biology – Garett Paxton

Principles of Business – Brayden Sequin, Jabriel White

ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACT

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the Administrative Contract for Rebecca T. Brian.  The contract will begin on July 1, 2016 and end on June 30, 2019.  Mr. Owen seconded the motion.                       (See Attached)

RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A BOND PURCHASE AGREEMENT AND OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION SCHOOL REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 2016, OF ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 1, STATE OF LOUISIANA; AND PROVIDING FOR MATTERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH

Mr. Owen moved to approve the resolution recognizing and approving the execution of a bond purchase agreement and official statement regarding the issuance and sale of General Obligation School Refunding Bonds, Series 2016, of Zachary Community School District No. 1, State of Louisiana; and providing for matters in connection therewith.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.
