ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

DECEMBER 13, 2016

 

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on December 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Grice.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Hughes.  

 

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Watkins, and Mr. Dayton.  

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the minutes for November 15, 2016 Work Session and Board Meeting.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

 Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for coming and announced that on Thursday, December 22, 2016 – Wednesday, January 4, 2017, all schools and school board office will be closed.  Employees will return on January 5 and students will return on January 6, 2017.  Mr. Devillier announced upcoming dates.  (See Attached)

 

RECOGNITION OF CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST WINNER

The board recognized Amy’ria Ford, 6th Grader, at Copper Mill Elementary, as the Christmas Card Contest Winner.  The board presented Any’ria with a framed original picture of the Christmas card.

 

RECOGNITION OF MATH OLYMPIAD PARTICIPANTS TOP 25 WINNERS

The board recognized Emma Todd and Kellen Conachen, students of Copper Mill Elementary, as the Math Olympiad top 25 winners.

The board presented Emma and Kellen with a certificate.

 

RECOGNITION OF JAMIE BYRD’S HAITI TRIP STUDENTS

The board recognized Jamie Byrd’s Haiti Trip Students:

Mallory Charlet, Grace Dry, Easton Adams, Broklyn Squires, Jake Obrien, Arden Tiffee, Connor Gibbon, Brynn Daniel, Zachary Wall, McKenzie Sullivan, and Kendall Boulton. These students went to Haiti on their Thanksgiving break.

 

RECOGNITION OF MS. MARGARET ATKINSON – 2016 LACUE REGION II MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR

The board recognized Ms. Margaret Atkinson as the 2016 LACUE Region 11 Middle School Teacher of the Year.  The board presented Margaret with a certificate.

 

RECOGNITION OF BOARD MEMBERS CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS OF 2016

Mrs. Kimmell recognized the Zachary Community School Board Members Continuing Education Hours for 2016:  Gaynell Young, total training hours 7.5; Brandy Westmoreland, total training hours 11.25; Marty Hughes, total training hours 7.5; Donna Grice, total training hours 24; Hubie Owen, total training hours 9.5; Heidi Vessel, total training hours 17.5; Beth Kimmell, total training hours 25.75; Ann Watkins, total training hours 22.5; and David Dayton, total training hours 7.5.

 

POLICY

Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the policy - File: EGA – Staff Insurance Coverages.  Mr. Owen seconded the motion.                             (See Attached)

LOUISIANA ATTESTATION QUESTIONNAIRE

Mrs. Watkins moved to adopt the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire.  Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.                                           (See Attached)

ELECTION OF SCHOOL BOARD OFFICERS

Mr. Hughes moved to table the Election of School Board Officers until the January 17, 2017 Board Meeting.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.
