ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

March 7, 2017

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on March 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Vessel.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Owen.

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins, and Mr. Dayton.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for February 7, 2017 Work Session and Board Meeting.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for attending and commended those in attendance who were being recognized for their accomplishments.   Mr. Devillier presented Randy Olson, retiring CEO from Lane Hospital, a gift basket.  Mr. Olson introduced the new CEO of Lane Hospital, Mr. Larry Meese to the board.  Mr. Devillier announced upcoming dates. (See Attached)

RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS OF THE YEAR

The board recognized Students of the Year:

Zachary Early Learning Center – Ashtyn Wilson

Northwestern Elementary School – Sydney Canty-Ford

Rollins Place Elementary School – Charis Gaston

Zachary Elementary School – John Bradley

Copper Mill Elementary School – Amanda Le

Northwestern Middle School – Anna Dupre

Zachary High School – Aasha Henderson

The board presented each student with a plaque.

Mr. Dayton moved to table the following Agenda Items # 8 & 9, recognition of Geography Bee Winners and Spelling Bee Winners at Zachary Elementary School.  Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

ADVERTISING FOR FOOD SERVICE AND SUPPLY BIDS

Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the advertising for Food Service and Supply Bids.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

2017 BOARD COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the 2017 Board Committee Assignments.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

PERMISSION FOR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER (ANN WATKINS) TO TRAVEL OUT OF STATE TO THE NSBA/ANNUAL CONFERENCE DENVER, COLORADO – MARCH 25-27, 2017

Mr. Hughes moved to give permission for school board member, Ann Watkins, to travel out of state to the NSBA/Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado on March 25-27, 2017.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.
