ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

April 4, 2017

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on April 4, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Vessel.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Kimmell

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, and Mr. Dayton.   1 ABSENT   (Mrs. Watkins)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for March 7, 2017 Work Session and Board Meeting, March 23, 2017 Technology Committee Meeting, and March 28, 2017 Executive Committee Meeting. Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for attending and commended those in attendance who were being recognized for their accomplishments.   Mr. Devillier announced upcoming dates. (See Attached)

RECOGNITION OF GEOGRAPHY BEE CHAMPION AT ZACHARY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The board presented a certificate to Cameron Dilney, Geography Champion at Zachary Elementary School.

RECOGNITION OF SPELLING BEE CHAMPIONS AT ZACHARY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The board presented certificates to the Spelling Bee Champions at Zachary Elementary School.

Third Grade:  Charlton Davis.

Fourth Grade: Tina Nguyen.

RECOGNITION OF LA. STATE SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR WINNERS AT ZACHARY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The board presented certificates to the 2017 La. State Social Studies Fair Winners.

RECOGNITION OF 2017 DISTRICT RALLY WINNERS AT ZACHARY HIGH SCHOOL

The board presented certificates to the following 2017 District Rally Winners at Zachary High School:

RECOGNITION OF 2017 DEMCO ESSAY CONTEST WINNER AT ZACHARY HIGH SCHOOL

The board presented a certificate to the 2017 DEMCO Essay Contest Winner, Joseph Howard.

RECOGNITION OF LA. SCHOOL BOARD ASSOCIATION ARTWORK CONTEST SECOND PLACE WINNER AT ZACHARY HIGH SCHOOL

The board presented a certificate to the second place winner of the La. School Board Association Artwork winner, Reagan Rispone.

RECOGNITION OF 2017 LA. STATE BAR ASSOCIATION STATE MOCK TRIAL SEMI-FINALIST:

The board presented certificates to the following 2017 La. State Bar Association State Mock Trial Semi-Finalist at Zachary High School:

Ellen Manuel, Aasha Henderson, Juliana Voiers, Garrett Paxton, Jessica Staggs, Maggie Terral, Bailey Malveaux and Joseph Howard.

The board presented certificates to the Mock Trial Team Coaches:

Chris Staggs, Adrianne Dykes, and Craig Kaster.
