MAY 2, 2017
The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on May 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for April 4, 2017 Work Session, and April 4, 2017 Board Meeting. Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

CORRECTION OF MINUTES FOR JANUARY 17, 2017
Mr. Hughes moved to include in the minutes for January 17, 2017 Board Meeting, Student Assignment Policy – File: JBCC. The policy in error was left out of the minutes. Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for attending and commended those in attendance who were being recognized for their accomplishments. Mr. Devillier announced upcoming dates. (See Attached). Mr. Devillier introduced new hire Mr. Chad Jarreau as the new Assistant Principal of Zachary High School beginning July 1, 2017. Mr. Devillier announced the promotions of Mrs. Angela Cassard as Principal of Copper Mill Elementary, Mrs. Kelly Day as Principal of Zachary Early Learning Center and Northwestern Elementary School and Mr. Dewey Davis as Supervisor of Elementary Programs. Also announced were two transfers, Mrs. Trudy Johnson transferring to Rollins Place Elementary as Assistant Principal and Ms. Keisha Thomas transferring to Zachary Elementary School as Principal.
RECOGNITION OF THE 2017 RETIREES
The board presented plaques to the 2017 Retirees: Charles Fresina, Jr., Paula Richard, Charlotte Potts and Carla Murray.
RECOGNITION OF ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OUTSTANDING SUPPORT EMPLOYEES OF 2017
The board presented plaques to the Outstanding School Support Employees for 2017:
Zachary Early Learning Center – Ericka Sterling, Northwestern Elementary – Tonya Fullerton,
Rollins Place Elementary – Debra Bacote, Zachary Elementary – Elizabeth Landry, Copper Mill Elementary – Dianne Cash, Northwestern Middle – Katie Suire, Zachary High School – Sara Chavez, SASSY – Lea Waxley, Main Office – Connie Aslin, Maintenance – Willie Parker.
Mrs. Landry was unable to attend.
ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACTS
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the Administrative Contracts. Mr. Hughes seconded the motion. (See Attached)

2017-2018 OFFICIAL JOURNAL
Mrs. Vessel moved to approve “The Advocate” as the 2017-2018 Official Journal. This will start on July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018. They will publish all the Zachary Community School Board’s official proceedings at the rate of 33 cents per agate line of space occupied by each insertion as provided. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion. (See Attached)

JOINT AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ZACHARY SRO AND CROSSING GUARDS CONTRACT
Mr. Hughes moved to approve the Joint Agreement with the City of Zachary Student Resource Officers and Crossing Guards contract. Contract will start July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion (See Attached)

FENNWOOD HILLS COUNTRY CLUB CONTRACT
Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the Fennwood Hills Country Club contract for one year. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion. (See Attached)

EXPLUSION APPEAL
All board members received and reviewed expulsion appeal information. No motion was made to go into Executive Session. The expulsion will stand as recommended.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
None at this time.
A Policy Committee meeting date will be announced.
AGENDA ITEMS FOR JUNE 6, 2017 BOARD MEETING
The June 6, 2017 board meeting has been re-scheduled for June 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
