ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 5, 2017
The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on September 5, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.
The Invocation was led by Mrs. Kimmell.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Grice
ROLL CALL: Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins and Mr. Dayton.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for August 1, 2017 Policy & Governance Committee Meeting, Work Session Meeting and Board Meeting. Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for coming out tonight. He announced that we received our AdvanceEd Certificate of Accreditation plaque. Mr. Devillier introduced to the board the Bronco Robotics Team: Maria Going, Tyler George Donald Haney, Brailyn King, Jude Charlet, Tu Nguyen and Tuan Nguyen. Also, the leaders of the Robotics Team, Mrs. Maree Funk and Lisa Williams. Mrs. Williams spoke about the Robotics Team and invited business and volunteers to come out and support the team.
BOARD COMMITTEES MEMBER REVISIONS
Mrs. Young introduced the 2017-2018 Board Committee Parent and Student Representatives. (See Attached)
SWEARING IN JROTC CADET BATTALION STAFF
Mr. Devillier performed a swearing in ceremony for the following JROTC Cadet Battalion Staff: Kyle Dousay, Connor Maloy, Jazlynn Smith, Ethan Russell, Oliver-Grayson Day and Akira Grant.
RECOGNITION OF RETIREES
Plaques were presented to Janet Thorn, teacher at Northwestern Elementary and Martha Davis, Principal at Northwestern Elementary. The board thanked them for all their dedication and hard work through the years.
SURPLUS ITEMS
Mr. Hughes moved to approve the surplus items. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

UNINSURED-UNDER INSURED MOTORIST BODILY INJURY RESOLUTION
Mrs. Kimmell moved to reject the Uninsured-Under Insured Motorist Bodily Injury Resolution. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

RESOLUTION IMPLEMENTING A UTILIZATION OF DELAY FOR POLICY – FILE: DJE – PURCHASING AND POLICY FILE: DJED – BIDS AND QUOTATIONS
Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the Resolution implementing a Utilization of Delay for Policy – File: DJE – Purchasing and Policy – File: DJED - Bids and Quotations. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

FILE: JGCE – CHILD ABUSE POLICY
Mrs. Vessel moved to table Agenda Item # 13 File: JGCE – Child Abuse Policy. Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.
