ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

NOVEMBER 7, 2017

 

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on November 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

 

The Invocation was led by Mr. Dayton.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Owen

 

ROLL CALL:  Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins and Mr. Dayton.  2 ABSENT – Mr. Hughes & Mrs. Grice

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for October 3, 2017 Finance Committee Meeting, Work Session and Board Meeting. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:      7 YEAS    0 NAYS   2 ABSENT

 

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for attending and announced that the Zachary school system ranked #1 for the 13th consecutive year. He thanked the community, students, parents, and staff for making it the top preforming school district.  He reported that the schools will hold Veteran’s Day programs on November 9th &10th. The Zachary High School Drama Department will perform, “A Few Good Men” tonight and November 9th & 11th.  Team playoffs are this week and next week schools will “Pack the Pantry”. 

 

RECOGNITION OF BOARD MEMBERS CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS OF 2017

Mrs. Young recognized the Zachary Community School Board Members Continuing Education Hours for 2017:  Gaynell Young, total training hours 13; Brandy Westmoreland, total training hours 8; Marty Hughes, total training hours 7; Donna Grice, total training hours 11; Hubie Owen, total training hours 7; Heidi Vessel, total training hours 10; Beth Kimmell, total training hours 10; Ann Watkins, total training hours 15; and David Dayton, total training hours 10.

 

2018 BOARD MEETING DATES

Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the 2018 Board Meeting Dates.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.  (See Attached)

LOUISIANA COMPLIANCE QUESTIONNAIRE

Mr. Dayton moved to adopt the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire.  Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.

Mrs. Gaynell Young wanted to congratulate our entire District, the Superintendent, and staff for achieving number 1 ranking for 13th consecutive year.
