ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD

February 27, 2018 Mini Board Retreat

 

Mrs. Watkins called the Mini Board Retreat to order at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.  The invocation was led by Mrs. Vessel

 

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Westmoreland, Mrs. Grice, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, and Mrs. Watkins.  Mrs. Young arrived at 6:11 p.m., Mr. Dayton at 6:12 p.m. and Mr. Hughes at 6:44 p.m.

 

The following items were discussed:                     

 

SUPERINTENDENT PERSONNEL UPDATE

Mr. Devillier reviewed the Superintendent Personnel Update as of March 6, 2018.  (See Attached)

Mrs. Williams went over the Louisiana State Association of School Personnel Administrators Contract with the board.  (See Attached)

 

FINANCIAL REPORTS

Mr. Musso went over the Financial Reports with the board. (See Attached)

 

DEBT SERVICE

Mr. Musso explained the Debt Service with the board. (See Attached)

 

PUPIL PROGRESSION PLAN

Mrs. Mason went over the Pupil Progression Plan.  Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the Pupil Progression Plan.  Mrs. Young seconded the motion (See Attached)

POLICY – FILE: DFAA – INDUSTRIAL TAX EXEMPTIONS

Mr. Musso went over the Industrial Tax Exemptions Policy – File: DFAA.  The board will vote on this policy at the March 6, 2018 Board Meeting.  (See Attached)

 

CHANGE DATE OF APRIL 3, 2018 WORK SESSION AND BOARD MEETING

Mr. Devillier told the board that since April 3rd board meeting falls during the spring break the board meeting date needed to be moved. After discussion from the board the meeting will be moved to April 17, 2018.

 

FIRST STUDENT TRANSPORTATION CONTRACT

Mr. Devillier told the board that he would like to get 10 more buses. Also, he would like to change the time that each school starts and ends and go from 3 tier to 2 tier schedule..  This would give the buses more time from first school to second school.

 

SAFETY UPGRADES

Mr. Devillier told the board that there is a big concern about school safety.  He has been looking into different products to make our schools safer. Mr. David Hyde, parent, talked about how concerned everyone is over the safety of the kids.  He told the board that the parents would be glad to work with the board to come up with ideas to make our schools safe.  Mr. Devillier told the board that we could hold a community meeting to discuss ways we can make our schools safer.

 

FACILITY UPGRADES/MAINTENANCE UPDATE

Mr. Devillier went over a list of upgrades and maintenance that he would like to start doing.  (See Attached)

 

STAR SERRVICES HVAC UPDATE

Mr. Devillier reviewed the Star Services HVAC contract. (See Attached)

Mr. Dayton moved to adjourn.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.
