ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

February 5, 2019

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on February 5, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Hughes.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Kimmell

ROLL CALL: Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Young, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton.  1 ABSENT – (Mrs. Westmoreland arrived at 7:10 p.m.)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for the January 15, 2019 Work Session and Board Meeting.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:   8 YEAS   0 NAYS    1 ABSENT      (Mrs. Westmoreland)

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier announced that Dr. Glenn Brady has passed away.  He was Acting Superintendent from March 2001 through August 2002. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, February 7 at 10 a.m. On Saturday, January 26, 2019, the Zachary High School’s FBLA Cub partnered with Rouses and Winn Dixie to hold a community food drive.  They collected 1343 pounds of food in 4 hours.  Mr. Devillier announced upcoming dates.  (See Attached List)

RECOGNITION OF DELTA KAPPA GAMMA-FIRST YEAR TEACHER

Mrs. Ginger Parker of Delta Kappa Gamma presented $100.00 to Rachel Unglesby, teacher at Zachary Early Learning Center.

RECOGNITION OF RETIREES

The board presented plaques to the following Retirees:  Lola Hill and Dewey Davis.

POLICIES

Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the following policies:  File: DFD – Tax and Bond Elections and Sales, File: DJE – Purchasing, File: GAEAA – Sexual Harassment, File GBC – Recruitment, File: GBDA – Employment of Retired Personnel, File: GBRIB – Sick Leave, File: GBRIC – Maternity and Adoptive Leave and File: JBCC – Student Assignment.  Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

2019-2020 SCHOOL CALENDAR

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the 2019-2020 School Calendar.  Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

*2018 SUPERINTENDENT INDICATORS

Mr. Devillier stated that he did not want to go into Executive Session.

Mrs. Williams spoke to the board about the 2018 Superintendent Indicators.

Mr. Dayton moved to accept the 2018 Superintendent Indicators.  Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone and stated how much he enjoyed each day in the school district.
