ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

March 19, 2019

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on March 19, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Hughes.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Cub Scout Xavier Haynes.

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mr. Dayton.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the minutes for the February 5, 2019 Work Session and Board Meeting, February 19, 2019 Parental & Community Involvement Meeting and March 14, 2019 Finance Committee Meeting.   Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier announced a Committee of the Whole Meeting on March 21, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at the School Board office.  Kindergarten Roundup will be on March 21, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Northwestern Elementary. 

RECOGNITION OF STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2019

The board recognized the following students:

Zachary Early Learning Center – Aurora Witharana, Northwestern Elementary – Christopher Young, Rollins Place – Xavier Haynes, Zachary Elementary – Amyah Rice, Copper Mill – Lauren Bradford, Northwestern Middle – Gabreyela Gonzalez, and Zachary High – Logan Thompson

The board presented each student with a plaque.

ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACTS

Mrs. Vessel moved to approve the Administrative Contracts for Supervisor, Assistant Principals and Principals.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR FOOD SERVICE AND SUPPLY BIDS

Mr. Mackie moved to give permission for Ms. Russel to advertise for Food Service and Supply Bids.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.
