ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

April 2, 2019

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on April 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Mackie.                                                     

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Vessel, Mr. Dayton.

3 ABSENT (Mrs. Young, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Kimmell)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the minutes for the March 19, 2019 Work Session and Board Meeting and the March 21, 2019 Committee of the Whole.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:   6 YEAS   0 NAYS    3 ABSENT

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier announced that the schools are doing Spring Testing.  All schools and offices will be closed on Friday, April 19 through April 23, 2019. Students will return on April 29, 2019.

Graduation will be on May 16, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.  Committee of the Whole meetings will be on Thursday, April 11 and April 18, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

RECOGNITION OF ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OUTSTANDING SUPPORT EMPLOYEES OF 2019

The board presented plaques to the following Outstanding Support Employees:  Zachary Early Learning Center – Janice Hall, Northwestern Elementary – Joyce McKay, Rollins Place Elementary – Mary Olson,, Zachary Elementary – Janet Grimball, Copper Mill Elementary – Adam Fevella, Northwestern Middle - Terasia Douglas, Zachary High School - Dianne LeBlanc, Sassy -  Lea Waxley, Maintenance – Phillip Bourgeois, Main Office – Alexis King.

Lee Waxley was unable to attend.

2019 BOARD COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the 2019 Board Committee Assignments as discussed at tonight’s work session.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.                         (See Attached)

VOTE:    6 YEAS   0 NAYS  3 ABSENT

MIS CONTRACT

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the MIS Contract.  Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

RESOLUTION WITH THE CITY OF SHREVEPORT AND ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE BATTEL ON THE BORDER HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SHOWCASE

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the Resolution with the City of Shreveport and Zachary Community School District for the Battel on the Border High School Football Showcase and allow Mr. Devillier to sign the Resolution.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.
