ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

OCTOBER 1, 2019

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on October 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Kimmell, Mr. Dayton.         1 ABSENT – (Mrs. Young)  

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for the September 3, 2019 Work Session, Board Meeting, September 17, 2019 Special Board Meeting and September 26, 2019 Board Retreat.    Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier thanked everyone for coming tonight and congratulated the AP Scholars.

Mr. Devillier reported that Homecoming will be this Friday, October 4, 2019.  Early dismissal will be held at all of schools.  Public and Student Pep Rally is at 10:30a.m., Parade is at 3:00 p.m., PreGame is at 6:30 p.m., and Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.  Mr. Devillier reported upcoming dates.  (See Attached)

RECOGNITION OF AP SCHOLARS

The board recognized the following AP Scholars:  Alexandra Barfield, Joseph Begley, Trevor Billiot, Caynan Byrd, Calvin Chapman, Collier Cranford, Rebecca Day, Tanayia Elloie, Caroline Fontenot, Abdullatif Hantash, Mary Grace Hardin, Anabelle Kanchirathingal, Brailyn King Amanda Madison, Katlyn McDonald, Aaron Meese, Ethan Patrick O’Brien, Vira Okert, Annemarie Olson, Siah Beado, Delaney Redden, Hannah Robertson, Oliva Smith, Jamie Stagg, Victoria Staid, Jaelynn Taylor, Logan Thompson, Kyle Trantham, Summer Troth, Emily Wayne, Haley Zweigle.  Each student received a monetary gift.

POLICIES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the following policies:  File: IDDFA – Special Education Advisory Council, File: IDDFB – Service Animals In Schools, File: JGCF – Behavioral Health Services For Students, File: JS – Student Fees and Charges, and delete File: JCDAG Threat and Terrorism or Violence.  Mrs. Vessel seconded the motion.           (See Attached)

BOND RESOLUTION

Mr. Owen moved to approve the following Resolution:   A Resolution making application to the State Bond Commission for consent and authority to issue, sell and deliver not exceeding $17,000,000 of General Obligation School Refunding Bonds of Zachary Community School District No. 1, State of Louisiana: providing for the employment of professionals; and providing for other matters in connection herewith.  Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.   (See Attached)
