ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

FEBRUARY 4, 2020

 

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on February 4, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

 

ROLL CALL: Mrs. Vessel, Mrs. Young, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton.      1 ABSENT -   Mrs. Westmoreland                                    

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for the January 7, 2020 Work Session and Board Meeting and January 28, 2020 Committee of the Whole Committee.  Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:     8 YEAS    0 NAYS    1 ABSENT

 

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Devillier announced that “Beauty and The Beast” performances will be at the VPAC on February 7, 8, 14th & 15th at 7:00 p.m. Matinees will be on February 9th & 16th.  Schools and offices will be closed for the Mardi Gras Holidays, February 24-26, 2020. 

 

RECOGNITION OF ERIC KING – ZHS SWIM TEAM DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPION        

The board presented a certificate to Eric King – ZHS Swim Team Division 1 State Champion.

 

RECOGNITION OF DELTA KAPPA GAMMA – FIRST YEAR TEACHER

The board recognized Courtney Ayro, Zachary High School Special Ed. Teacher, as the Delta Kappa Gamma Award Winner.  Delta Kappa Gamma member, Jill Boagni, presented her a check for $100.00.

 

2018-2019 AUDIT REPORT

Amanada Strebeck of Postlethwaite & Netterville, Inc. presented the 2018-2019 Audit Report.  Mrs. Strebeck reported that the Zachary Community School Board was in excellent financial and business shape.

 

2019-2020 BUDGET REVISION 1

Mrs. Young moved to adopt the 2019-2020 Budget Revision.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

POLICIES

Mr. Owen moved to approve the following policies:  File DFD – Tax and Bond Elections and Sales, File: GAEAA – Sexual Harassment, File: GBN – Dismissal of Employees and File: GBRL – Holidays.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:    8 YEAS    0 NAYS    1 ABSENT

 

EXPULSION APPEAL – (1 FOR EXPULSION HEARING)

Mr. Owen moved to go into Executive Session for Expulsion Hearing.  Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

Mrs. Vessel resumed the board meeting.

Mr. Owen made the motion to uphold the Hearing Expulsion as it stands.  Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

ROLL CALL VOTE:  Mrs. Vessel – Yea, Mrs. Young – Nay, Mrs. Westmoreland – Absent, Mr. Hughes – Yea, Mr. Mackie – Nay, Mr. Owen – Yea, Mrs. Kimmell – Yea, Mrs. Watkins – Nay, Mr. Dayton – Yea.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Hubie Owen reported that the Resource Committee met to review the current budget and budget revision.
