ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
July 21, 2020
The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on July 21, 2020 at 7:00pm, at the ZHS Visual & Performing Art Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, Louisiana.
ROLL CALL: Mrs. Westmoreland, Mrs. Young, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Kimmell, Dr. Lathon Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton. 1 ABSENT – Mr. Hughes – Mr. Dayton was Teleconference.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Mackie moved to approve the minutes for the July 9, 2020 Board Meeting. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

RECOGNITION OF STUDENT OF THE YEAR-ZHS- Jessica Schwendimann
The board presented a plaque to Jessica Schwendimann, ZHS Student of the Year.
COOPERATIVE ENDEAVOR AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ZACHARY AND THE ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL SYSTEM (ZYP MULTIPURPOSE RECREATIONAL FACILITY) CONTRACT
Mr. Owen moved to approve the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the City of Zachary and the Zachary Community School System (ZYP Multipurpose Recreational Facility Contract) and Mr. Mackie seconded the motion. (See Attached)

2020-2021 STUDENT FEES
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the 2020-2021 Student Fees. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

POLICIES
Mrs. Young moved to table the following policies: Rile GBRIBC – Emergency Family and Medical Leave (EFMLA) and Emergency Paid Sick Leave (COVID-19 Pandemic), File: GBAA – Compensation Guidelines/Overtime, File: EBBD – Emergency Closing of School. The Board Attorney will look over the policies and make changes if needed. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve File: EBBI – Public Health Emergency. Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.

SPECIAL ELECTION FOR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER DISTRICT 6
Mr. Owen moved to approve the Resolution for Special Election for School Board Member District 6 on March 20, 2021 for Primary Election and run-off election, if necessary, on April 24, 2021. Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Mrs. Kimmell nominated Mrs. Westmoreland for President. Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

Mr. Mackie moved to approve the updated 2020 Board Committee Assignment List. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion. (See Attached)

REOPENING OF SCHOOLS PLAN
Mr. Devillier announced that we have 2400 students that have signed up to go Virtual. Most of our Special Education have signed up to go Virtual. We are utilizing all available resources to ensure that our students have the essential tools for learning. All students and teachers will have computers and internet. We are making sure that the teachers have what they need to teach. All teachers will be on campus whether Virtual or Hybrid. All schools are being equipped with sanitizer and cleaning supplies to keep the students and teachers safe at school. We will have water bottles for everyone and mask at all the schools. The buses will be cleaned after each run. We are following the guidelines of the State Department of Education and have meetings each day, keeping up with the changes. Mr. Devillier announced if anyone has questions to please post on Strong Start 2020 under Questions and Answers and their questions will be answered.
