ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

JUNE 15, 2021

The Zachary Community School Board held a Public Hearing on the 2021-2022 Budget on June 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Zachary High School Visual and Performing Arts Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, LA 70791

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Mackie.

Mr. Devillier recommended that the board adopt the 2021-2022 Budget.

There was no public comment.

Mr. Owen made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

Vote to close: All in favor.

The Public Hearing Meeting was closed at 7:02 p.m.

The Zachary Community School Board held a Public Hearing on the Discipline Policy Review Committee’s Recommendations on June 15, 2021 at 7:03 p.m. at the Zachary High School Visual and Performing Arts Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, LA 70791.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Mackie.

Mr. Devillier recommended that the board adopt the Discipline Policy Review Committee’s recommendations.

There was no public comment.

Mr. Owen made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

Vote to close: All in favor.

The Public Hearing Meeting was closed at 7:05 p.m.

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on June 15, 2021 at 7:06 pm., at the ZHS Visual & Performing Arts Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, LA 70791.

The Meeting was called to order by Mr. Mackie.

The Invocation was led by Dr. Lathon.

The Pledge of Allegiancewas led by Mr. Owen.

Board Members Present: Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Owen, Dr. Lathon, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton 

Board Members Absent: Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Young

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the minutes for May 4, 2021 Resources Committee, Work Session, and Board Meeting, May 11, 2021 Committee of the Whole, June 1, 2021 Discipline Policy Review Committee and June 8, 2021 Executive Committee Meeting.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

RECOGNITION OF THE ZHS OUTDOOR TRACK STATE CHAMPIONS

The board recognized the following students:  Christopher Hilton, Kenson Tate, Orsciana Beard, Jaydan Jackson.

RECOGNITION OF ZHS POWER LIFTING STATE CHAMPIONS

The board recognized the following students:  Jaydan Jackson and J’Darius Carter.

RECOGNITION OF RETIREES

The board recognized the following retirees and presented plaques to each one that was present:

Debra Usie, Patricia Davis, Amanda McMorris, Deborah Brian, Debra Wilson, Michael Fussell,

Esther Watson and Karen Flowers.

LOUISIANA ATTESTATION QUESTIONNAIRE Mr. Hughes moved to adopt the Louisiana Attestation Questionnaire.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.   (See Attached)

AUDIT ENGAGEMENT FOR 2021-2022

Mr. Owen moved to approve the 2021-2022 Audit Engagement with Postlethwaite & Netterville and grant the Superintendent permission to sign. Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.   (See Attached)

2020-2021 BUDGET REVISION

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the 2020-2021 Budget Revision.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.      (See Attached)

2021-2022 BUDGET

Mrs. Watkins moved to approve the 2021-2022 Budget.  Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

2021 – 2022 STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES HANDBOOK

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.  (See Attached)

2021-2022 FOOD SERVICE BIDS

Dr. Lathan moved to approve the 2021-2022 Pizza and Deli Sandwiches bids.   Mr. Owen seconded the motion.  (See Attached)

AMEND SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT

Mr. Dayton moved to amend the Superintendent Contract.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

COMMITTEE REPORTS – Mr. Owen informed that during the Resource Committee Meeting on June 15, 2021 the board gave affirmative approval for the 2021-2022 Budget and affirmative approval for the amendment to the 2020-2021 Budget.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS –Mini Retreat at Zachary Community School Board office on July 13, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.

AGENDA ITEMS FOR JULY 20, 2021 BOARD MEETING

Will be decided at the July 13^th Mini Retreat.
