ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on October 5, 2021 at 7:00pm, at the Zachary High School Visual & Performing Art Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, Louisiana.

ROLL CALL: Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Owen, Dr. Lathon, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton.    2 ABSENT – Mrs. Young, Mrs. Kimmell

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Watkins moved to approve the minutes for August 3, 2021 Work Session, Board Meeting and September 16, 2021 Committee of the Whole Meeting.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:     7 YEAS    0 NAYS    2 ABSENT

AMEND AGENDA      

Mr. Owen moved to amend the Agenda to change Agenda Item # 12 Board Meeting date for the November Meeting.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

RECOGNITION OF RETIREES

The board recognized the following Retirees and presented them with a plaque:  John Maurer, Janet Maurin, Danye Pelichet, Rose Fehn.

PURSUANT TO LA. R. S. 19.1 NOTICE OF CONSIDERATION OF ACTION REGARDING AD VALOREM TAX

Mr. Musso read the following:  Notice is hereby given that the Zachary Community School Board acting as the governing authority of Zachary Community School System in the Parish of East Baton Rouge (the System), will meet on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 7:00 p.m., at its regular meeting place, the Zachary High School Visual & Performing Arts Center, 4100 Bronco Lane, Zachary, Louisiana, at which time there will be consideration of action regarding  the calling of an election to authorize the renewal of the levy and collection of an existing ad valorem tax for the purpose of giving additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools within the System and for any of its lawful school purposes, including acquiring, constructing, maintaining and operating the public elementary and secondary schools and school-related buildings, equipment and facilities of the System and paying the salaries and benefits of school system personnel.

*SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION

Mr. Devillier waived his right to have an Executive Session.

Mr. Mackie commended Mr. Devillier for his exceptional service and informed that Mr. Devillier had received a 3.7 out of 4 on his Superintendent Evaluation.  Mr. Devillier thanked everyone and stated that he would continue to work had and do his best for the board.

Mr. Dayton moved to approve the Superintendent Evaluation.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS –Resources Committee Meeting, November 9, 2021 at 5:30

CHANGE NOVEMBER BOARD MEETING DATE FROM NOVEMBER 2 TO NOVEMBER 9, 2021   Mr. Owen moved to change the date of November 2, 2021 Board Meeting to November 9, 2021.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.
