ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
December 7, 2021
The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on December 7, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.
The Invocation was led by Mrs. Kimmell.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Owen.
ROLL CALL: Mr. Mackie, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Owen, Dr. Lathon, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton. 2 ABSENT Mrs. Young and Mrs. Westmoreland
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the minutes for the November 9, 2021 Work Session and Board Meeting and November 16, 2021 Special Board Meeting. Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.
There was no public comment.

RECOGNITION OF 2021 CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST
The board recognized Madison Smith from Copper Mil, as the Christmas Card Winner. The board presented Madison with the framed original picture of the Christmas card.
The board recognized the following Best of Christmas Cards from each school: Northwestern Elementary - Jaremiah Burrell, Rollins Place Elementary – Jackson Langlois, Zachary Elementary – Emily Murphy, Copper Mill – Sarah Fannin, Northwestern Middle – Elizabeth Holman, Zachary High School – Zoe Louis. Emily Murphy and Zoe Louis could not attend.
The board presented each student with the framed original picture of their Christmas card.
BOARD MEMBERS TRAINING HOURS
Mr. Mackie presented the 2021 Board Members Training Hours: Mr. Mackie – 21.5 hours, Mrs. Young – 14 hours, Mrs. Westmoreland – 9.5 hours, Mr. Hughes – 9.5 hours, Mr. Owen – 8.5 hours, Dr. Lathon – 10 hours, Mrs. Kimmell - 12 hours, Mrs. Watkins – 6.5 hours, Mr. Dayton – 9.5 hours.
POLICIES
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the following Policies: File: DJE – Purchasing, File: DJED – Bids and Quotations, File: GBRIB – Sick Leave, File: IHAB – Report Cards, File: IHAD – Parent Conference, File: JG - Student Welfare, and File: JQE – Expectant and Parenting Students. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Mr. Owen nominated Mr. Hughes as president. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

AGENDA ITEMS FOR JANUARY 4, 2022 BOARD MEETING
Mr. Devillier pointed out that we would have more time to prepare for the January Board Meeting if it was pushed back to January 11, 2022.
Mr. Hughes moved to delay the January 4 Board Meeting to January 11, 2022. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

EXPULSION HEARING J.B.
Mr. Hughes moved to go in Executive Session for J.B. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.

Mr. Hughes moved to go back into Regular Session of J.B. Mr. Mackie seconded the motion

Mr. Hughes moved to Affirm the Expulsion for J.B. and encouraged Mom to request a reinstatement next semester. Mr. Owen seconded the motion.
