ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

FEBRUARY 1, 2022

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on February 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.

The Invocation was led by Mrs. Kimmell.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Mackie

ROLL CALL:  Mrs. Young, Mrs. Westmoreland, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Dr. Lathon, Mrs. Kimmell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Dayton.  1 ABSENT – Mr. Hughes

Mr. Owen moved to Amend the Board Meeting Agenda to Correct Agenda Item # 7.  It should read, authorization for Mr. Devillier to sign Act 119 CEA FY 2021-2022.  Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS  1 ABSENT

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the minutes for the January 25, 2022 Resources Committee Meeting, Work Session and Board Meeting. Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:      8 YEAS    0 NAYS     1 ABSENT

RECOGNITION OF RETIREES

The board recognized the following Retirees and presented a plaque.

Deborah Dunn Edwards, Tamela Wells, Kendrick Hamilton, Kathryn Rish.

AUTHORIZATION FOR MR. DEVILLIER TO SIGN ACT 119 CEA FY 2021-2022

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the authorization for Mr. Devillier to sign ACT 119 CEA FY 2021-2022.  Mrs. Kimmell seconded the motion.

VOTE:   8 YEAS   0 NAYS  1 ABSNET

2022-2023 SCHOOL CALENDAR

Mrs. Westmoreland moved to approve the 2022 – 2023 School Calendar.  Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

BOARD MEMBER APPOINTED TO DISCIPLINE POLICY COMMITTEE

Mrs. Young moved to appoint Dr. Elecia Lathon to the Discipline Policy Committee.  Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion. 

There was no public committee.

VOTE:   8 YEAS  0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL UPDATE

Mrs. Mason reviewed the Social and Emotional Update with the board.

SURPLUS PROPERTY

Mrs. Young moved to approve Surplus Property.  Mrs. Watkins seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS 1 ABSENT

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mr. Owen reported that the Resource Committee met tonight.  (See Attached)                                    

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

Committee of the Whole will meet on February 10, 2022 at 6:00 pm. at School Board Office

Board Retreat on March 10, 2022 at 6:00pm.
