MAY 3, 2022
The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on May 3, 2022 at 7:00 pm., at the Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street, Zachary, La. 70791.
The Invocation was led by Mr. Dayton
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Watkins

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Mackie moved to approve the minutes for April 5, 2022 Committee of the Whole, Work Session, and Board Meeting and April 11, 2022 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

RECOGNITION OF LOUISIANA FBLA STATE CONFERENCE WINNERS
The board presented certificates to the following students: Trinity Early, Jaida Shelmire, Makayla Jones, Jaysha Dunn, Cami Muse, Ty’Laija Covington
RECOGNITION OF STATE MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION – JORDAN SUTTON – OVERALL BEST WITNESS
The board presented a certificate to Jordan Sutton.
RECOGNITION OF STATE CHAMPIONS IN THE VETERINARY SCIENCE FFA CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENT
The board presented certificates to the following students: Laryn Bunch, Kelsi Atkinson, Maia Carter, Alishia Joseph
RECOGNITION OF REGENA LANDRY – LOUISIANA STATE LEVEL FINALIST PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE
The board presented Regena Landry with a certificate.
RECOGNITION OF 2022 SUPPORT WORKERS OF THE YEAR
The board presented plaques to the following Support Workers :
Rosa White – Zachary Early Learning Center, Erin Bentley – Northwestern Elementary, Lori Hart– Rollins Place Elementary, Lyndsay Thompson – Zachary Elementary, Terrilyn Montgomery – Copper Mill Elementary, Krystal Moses – Northwestern Middle, Natasha Walker – Zachary High School, Lea Waxley – Sassy, DeShawn Butler – Maintenance, Amanda Brooks - Main Office
RECOGNITION OF ACCELERATED MATH TEACHER LEADER
The board presented certificates to T’Era Lewis and Gwen Savarin - T’Era was unable to attend.
RECOGNITION OF RETIREE – JENNIFER RUSHING
The board thanked Jennifer Rushing for her service and presented her with a trophy.
2022– 2023 FOOD SERVICE AND SUPPLY BIDS
Ms. Russell asked the board for approval for the 2022-2023 Food Service and Supply Bids.
Mrs. Kimmell moved to accept the 2022 – 2023 Food Service and Supply bids. Mrs. Westmoreland seconded the motion.

RESOLUTION
A Resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the result of the special election held in the Zachary Community School System, Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana ( the “System”), Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (the “System”), on Saturday, March 26, 2022, to authorize the renewal of a 38.2 mills tax on assessed valuation of all property subject to taxation in the System, for a period of ten (10) years, beginning in the year 2024 and ending in the year 2033, for the purpose of giving additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools within the System and for any of its lawful school purposes, including acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating the public elementary and secondary schools and school-related buildings, equipment and facilities of the System and paying the salaries and benefits of school system personnel.
There was no public comment.
Mr. Owen moved to approve the canvassing resolution. Dr. Lathon seconded the motion.

RESOLUTION
A Resolution directing the renewal of the levy and collection of an ad valorem tax of 38.2 mills on assessed valuation of all property subject to taxation in the Zachary Community School System, in the Parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana (the “System”), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning in the year 2024 and ending in the year of 2033, authorized under the provisions of Article VI, Sections 30 and 32 and Article VIII, Section 13 (C) of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana of 1974, as amended, and other constitutional and statutory authority as applicable, for the purpose of giving additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools within the System and for any of its lawful school purposes, including acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating the public elementary and secondary schools and school -related buildings, equipment and facilities of the System and paying the salaries and benefits of school system personnel; and providing for other matters in connection therewith.
Mrs. Kimmell moved to approve the direction of the renewal of the levy and tax. Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.
