ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

April 4, 2023

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on April 4, 2023 at 7:00pm, at the Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street, Zachary, La.  70791.

ROLL CALL: Mr. Dayton, Mrs. Young, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Freeman, Dr. Lathon, Mr. Gaines      1 Absent – Dr. London

 APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mrs. Young moved to approve the minutes for March 21, 2023 Resources Committee, Work Session, and Board Meeting   Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:     8 YEAS    0 NAYS    1 ABSENT

RECOGNITION OF STUDENT OF THE YEAR

The board presented plaques and cookie cakes to the following Students of the Year:  Zachary Early Learning Center – Adrienne Dufour, Northwestern Elementary – Aria Wilson, Rollins Place Elementary – Beau Hess, Zachary Elementary – Douglas Jenkins, Copper Mill – Zoe Stagg, Northwestern Middle – Carson Southall, Zachary High School – Lucille Yoes.

RECOGNITION OF WINNERS OF THE DEMCO YOUTH TOUR ESSAY CONTEST

The board presented certificates to the following students:

Julia Blanchard, Amelia Williams.  Eni Nwabueze was unable to attend.

RECOGNITION OF THE REGION 3 MOCK TRAIL CHAMPIONS

The board presented certificates to the following students:

Hailey Gleason – Best Attorney, Camryn Beathley, Annie Maas, Lucille Yoes, Gabreyla Gonzales, Annalee “Reese” Broussard, Lily Richard.

RECOGNITION OF LSBA  2023 ART COMPETITION FIRST PLACE WINNER – HAILEY GLEASON

The board presented Hailey with a certificate.

RECOGNITION OF FIRST PLACE WINNERS IN THE BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD OF LOUISIANA PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO CONTEST – J’MARQUISE ELMORE – TAFARI BEARD

The board presented J’Marquise and Tafari with certificates.

DISCIPLINE REVIEW COMMITTEE

Mrs. Freeman told the board that Dr. London wanted to be on the Discipline Review Committee.  Mrs. Freeman moved to elect Dr. London to be on the Discipline Review Committee.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:    8 YEAS    0 NAYS    1 ABSENT
