ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

APRIL 27, 2023

The Zachary Community School Special Board Meeting was held on April 27, 2023, at 6:00 pm., at the Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street, Zachary, La.  70791.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Gaines.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Dayton

ROLL CALL: Mr. Dayton, Mrs. Young, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Freeman, Dr. Lathon, Mr. Gaines, Mrs. London    0 ABSENT

Mr. Dayton asked for a motion to go into Executive Session.

Mr. Mackie moved to go into Executive Session.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

VOTE:  9 YEAS  0 NAYS  0 ABSENT

*DISCUSSION OF CHARACTER, PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE, OR PHYSICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH OF APPLICANTS FOR SUPERINTENDENT

Mr. Dayton asked for a motion to go back into Regular Meeting.

Mr. Hughes moved to go back into Regular Meeting.  Mrs. Young seconded the motion.

VOTE:   9 YEAS    0 NAYS  0 ABSENT

Mr. Mackie made a motion to have a second round of interviews. Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

Mr. Dayton announced that the board members have narrowed it down to two candidates for Superintendent. We would like to interview Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Necaise on Monday, May 1, 2023.

Mr. Jenkins will be at 5:00 PM and Mr. Necaise will be at 6:30 PM.  On Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at our Regular Board Meeting we will select our new superintendent.

There were 3 public comments.

Dr. Littles spoke on Agenda Items # 5 and 6, Dr. Melvin Hollins spoke on Agenda # 5,

Dr. Monica Fabre spoke on Agenda Item # 5

Mr. Mackie moved to adjourn.  Mrs. Young seconded the motion.
