ZACHARY COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

MAY  22, 2023

The Zachary Community School Board Special Board Meeting was held on May 22, 2023, at 6:00 pm., at the Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street, Zachary, La.  70791.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Gaines.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Freeman

ROLL CALL: Mr. Dayton, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Gaines, Dr. London    

3 ABSENT – Mrs. Young, Mr. Mackie, Dr. Lathon   Mr. Mackie arrived at 6:05   Dr. Lathon arrived at 6:07.

AMEND SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT

Mr. Hughes made the motion Amended and Restated Superintendent Employment Contract to be issued to Scott Devillier and to give President Dayton authority to sign the contract on behalf of the board. Mr. Gaines seconded the motion.    (See Attached) There was no public comment.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT FOR MR. NECAISE

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the Superintendent Contract for Mr. Necaise with a start date of May 30, 2023 and expiring at midnight on June 30, 2026.  The annual base salary will be $157,000.00 and $700.00 monthly travel expense with no incentives.  Mr. Talbot seconded the motion.  (See Attached) There was no public comment.

VOTE:  7 YEAS  1 NAYS  1 ABSENT

2023-2024 BUDGET

Mr. Hughes moved to give Mr. Musso permission to advertise the 2023-2024 Budget.  Mrs. Freeman seconded the motion. There was no public comment.

VOTE:   8 YEAS   0 NAYS  1 ABSENT

AUTHORIZATION FOR MR. DEVILLIER TO SIGN ACT 170 CEA FY 2022-2023 

Mr. Mackie moved to give authorization for Mr. Devillier to sign ACT 170 CEA FY 2022-2023.  Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:  8 YEAS   0 NAYS  1 ABSENT

2023-2024 STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES HANDBOOK

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the 2023-2024 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.  Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.
