SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

June 27, 2024

The Zachary Community Schools Special BoardMeeting was held on June 27, 2024, at 6:00 PM, atthe Zachary Community School Board Office, 3755 Church Street,Zachary, LA 70791.

The Invocation was led by Mr. Gaines.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Freeman.

ROLL CALL:  Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mrs. Freeman, Dr. Lathon, Mr. Gaines.

Mr. Dayton arrived 6:04 PM, Mr. Mackie arrived 6:05 PM, Dr. Young arrived 6:11 PM,

Dr. London arrived at 6:22 PM.

Dr. Lathon asked for a motion to move Agenda Item #8 SRO and Crossing Guard Contract Options to Agenda Item #5. Mr. Talbot moved to approve the request.

Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

VOTE:  Yeas 5 Nays 0 Absent 4

The board discussed the SRO and Crossing Guard Contract Options. Chief Darryl Lawrence and Mr. Musso explained that the contracts were approved at the last Zachary Community School Board meeting but were held up at the City Council. Further discussion will be held between the administration of the offices involved.

Dr. Lathon asked for a motion to move Agenda Item #7 The Addition of Navy Pants to the School Uniform to Agenda Item #6.

Mr. Gaines moved to approve the request. Mrs. Freeman seconded the motion.

The board discussed the addition of navy pants to the school uniform.

Mrs. Gaynell Young called for a motion to hold a Policy Committee Meeting in July to discuss this option further.

Mr. Hughes moved to approve the request. Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.

Mrs. Williams requested the approval of the 2024-2025 Salary Schedule Revision.

Mrs. Young moved to accept the 2024-2025 Salary Schedule Revision.

Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.

Mrs. Williams requested the approval of Employee Job Descriptions presented to the board. Mr. Mackie moved to approve the Employee Job Descriptions.

Mr. Hughes seconded the motion.
