Expulsion Appeals

The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on November 14, 2024 at 6:30 pm at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana, 70791.

The Invocation was led by Dr. Young.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Hughes

Board Members Present:  Dr. Lathon, Dr. Young, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Mackie, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Gaines, Dr. London   1 Absent – Mr. Dayton

EXPULSION HEARING DS

Dr. Young moved to go into Executive Session of the Hearing of DS.  Dr. London seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.        

VOTE:  8 YEAS    0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

Mr. Mackie moved to come out of Executive Session and go back into regular Board Meeting.  Mrs. Freeman seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:   8 YEAS   0  NAYS  1 ABSENT

Mr. Talbot moved to affirm the expulsion as stands.  Mrs. Freeman seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

ROLL CALL VOTE:

Dr. Lathon - Yea, Dr. Young – Yea, Mr. Talbot – Yea, Mr. Hughes – Yea, Mr. Mackie – Yea, Mrs. Freeman – Yea,  Mr. Gaines – Yea, Dr. London – Nay.

8 YEAS   0 NAYS  1 ABSENT

Dr. Young would like to meet with the Administrators to see what else we can do for our students.

Dr. London said that she still has concerns about the due process.

EXPULSION HEARING JB

Dr. London moved to go into Executive Session for the Hearing of JB.  Mrs. Freeman seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:   8 YEAS    0 NAYS  1 ABSENT

Mr. Mackie moved to come out of Executive Session go back into the regular Board Meeting. Mrs. Freeman second the motion.

There was no public comment.

VOTE:  8 YEAS  0 NAYS   1 ABSENT

Mrs. Freeman moved to affirm the expulsion as stands.  Mr. Talbot seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

Dr. Lathon stress that we need to do more for our elementary students.

Dr. Young would like to meet with the Administrators.

Dr. London also would like to do more for our elementary students.

Mr. Gaines moved to adjourn. Mr. Mackie seconded the motion.
